Synopsis
Fred Robsahm had one dream, divided into three parts: a sailboat, a beautiful woman and a life at sea. He wanted to explore the world, every culture in it and ultimately, - to die to the sound of the swelling sea.
His dream took him to Italy in the late sixties. He was looking for a job in the marinas outside Rome, where he was spotted by a producer, who introduced him into the film industry. He became a b-movie actor in numerous films. Including Barbarella with Jane Fonda and Raffaela Andreassi´s Flashback, which went to the main selection in Cannes 1969.
Acting gave Fred the opportunity to go where he wanted to go. Namely the sea! He got the money for the sailboat and the fair maiden to boot. He fell in love with Italian movie star Agostina Belli and she fell in love with him. Fred had the perfect life for many, many years.
The turning point came in 1986 when a friend of Fred asked him if he could sail a boat from Spain to Italy. Fred accepted the offer and was captured at sea with 1,5 tons of cannabis hidden below deck.
He spent one year in custody. The charges against him were dropped, but during his time in prison, Fred had gotten the HIV virus. His life fell apart. Agostina, who was already uneasy about Freds obsession with sailing, had found herself a new man. Fred lost everything he owned: his money, his sailboat and his friends. Eventually, he turned into a loafer and a drug abuser.
Today he lives in the same small town in Norway as he grew up in. He has been participating in an experimental drug program for HIV positive people, which has driven out the virus. But the strong medicine has taken its toll on the old mans nervous system.
However, he is quite a character; a collector of some stature and repairman of old and broken things, including radios, CD players, motorcycles, mobile phones among other things. He still has a goal: To sail to Italy and meet the love of his life, Agostina Belli. One last journey to the country that gave and took everything away from him.
