When a deadly mercury spill caused by an uncaring multi-national mining concern starts to afflict the health of the inhabitants of a village in Peru's high Andes, they wrongly blame a team of European paramedics operating nearby. Eventually one young woman, who has lost her fiance to the terrible sickness, realises the true source of the contamination and hits upon a drastic means of sending the news to the outside world.
