Synopsis

Based on the novella by Henry James, "The Beast in the Jungle" depicts the enigmatic love story of John Marcher and May Bartram. John has told her a secret that since his childhood he has been dogged by the feeling that one day something overwhelming, unique but also devastating will happen to him. This idea is so powerful – like a beast in the jungle ready to pounce – that it paralyses him. Over the years their friendship has formed a pattern of curiously waiting and watching what fate has in store for John.
