He is one of the most famous German artists of all time: Joseph Beuys. 30 years after his death, Andres Veiel (“If not us, who?”) presents an intimate look at the visionary artist, seen through a congenial montage of archival sources, in which Beuys, the man with the hat and the “Fettecke”, appears more relevant than ever before. Viewing 300 hours of video material and listening to nearly as much audio material by and about Beuys, Veiel created not merely a portrait in the common sense but much rather an intimate look at the human being, his art and his world of ideas.
