A romantic adventure set in 18th century Catalonia. War hero Captain Escalaborns takes a young orphan under his wing and together they set off on an arduous journey in search of a hidden treasure. The orphan, son of his childhood sweetheart, awakens heart-breaking emotions of unrequited love.

It is the difficult time after the war in which Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands fought against the troops of Philip V (1715) After the death of his parents, little Joan leaves the city of Cardona to make his way to the coast and thus fulfill the wish that his mother expressed to him just before she died: he has to go to begur, find a man called Captain Escalaborns and give him the map of a treasure which they must seek together. His journey is eventful, especially when he meet the smuggler Borni who, when he find out about the existence of the treasure, does not hesitate to get the little boy drunk so that he can steal the map from him.
