Synopsis
This film is a story about love that doesn’t disappear with the passage of time, neither becomes less
strong. It could be a story about happiness, but there are three people in this ocean of feelings: 2
women and one man… This is not a love triangle, but something more. This is an inexplicable metaphysics
of love. At the same time it’s the tale about feminine friendship between two competitress, that is
unreal and impossible, but exists. Sometimes it looks more like hate, but always it returns to be
friendship.
The movie begins by the images and the sounds of the sea, followed by a song in Spanish, that passes
like a leitmotif resonating all over the film, creating a special, light and southern atmosphere, when it
seems that in the life never can happen something bad. The sea is a particular personage, who
accompanies the protagonists all through their life. And it’s not always the same - its color changes, its
voice too: sometimes it speaks through the children’s shouts, sometimes it whispers through the tidal
waters. The apartment where the personages live has its own voice too - at different moments it can be
full of music, conversations or memories. There are 6 actresses interpreting two female-protagonists.
And it seems logical and natural, although the actresses, who have the role of the same woman in her
different ages, apparently do not resemble each other. They are psychologically identical, which is more
important here.
It’s a sad and penetrating story, told with beauty. The means of expression and the musical background
create a beautiful world, although in fact it’s only a littoral periphery. Altogether, there are a few
words in the movie, but they are compensated by a vortex of emotions and soul affections that even are
able to blunt the reason and the instinct of self-preservation. It is a very emotional and deep movie
that shows us how difficult can be the feelings, but in spite of that it leaves us the impression similar
to the light and fresh sea-breeze.
