Mumbai. 16-year-old orphan Pachpan and his gang of pickpockets operate on the city’s crowded trains. After stealing an unusually large sum, curiosity leads Pachpan to follow their victim to his modest home, where he discovers the life-altering consequences of the theft. Dishonoured and unable to pay for the wedding of Uma, his eldest daughter, the man has taken tragic action. Filled with remorse, Pachpan resolves to get involved in Uma’s life, to make amends at any price.
