When a music production studio that also operates as a social club staffed by burnt-out characters might have to close, the manager launches a last ditch music competition, The Battle of the Bands, to save the place. More by accident than design, musical genius is unleashed by a rapping transvestite, some precocious indie rockers, and a barmaid with a golden voice, who together, save the world that they love.
