Two reclusive shoemakers in their late 30's manage the Mr. Happy Shoe Repair Shop. Fragile yet deliberate, Carey polishes the shoes while Paul looks after ordering supplies and handling the account books. They are very close friends. Their rather insular world unravels when Carey meets Anna after placing an ad in the Newspaper Personal Column: "Lonely shoemaker 35, off the wall sense of humour...seeks normal life with a woman." Worried about Carey, Paul cautions him not to have romantic expectations. But Paul's words evaporate when Anna shows up and Carey's all-or-nothing heart begins a tremulous journey.
