This film is a modern version for the big screen of the immortal play of the same name by the Swedish dramatist August Strindberg, an adaptation that uses the resources of the film narrative in a singular and innovative way. It is a film that constitutes a journey into the past of a dysfunctional family.It is the final story of Lucía's family, her husband Silverio and their two adult children, Rebeca and Antonio. Everything unfolds the night of Rebeca's marriage with Octavio, an attractive and ambitious young man, without scruples to satisfy his greed. That night Silverio discovers the secret love between Octavio and Lucía. In addition, he discovers that Antonio is not his son. Silverio chooses to leave the house, in silence. Rebeca go to her honeymoon, oblivious to all that evil.Silverio falls rapidly and his health plummets. He dies before Rebeca returns leaving a letter to Antonio, explaining the truth. Rebeca and Octavio return from their honeymoon, to stay at the family home. The unbridled search for the testament and a supposed inheritance unites Lucía and Octavio even more. But in that search Silverio's letter appears to his son, and the tragedy becomes inevitable.
