Two Indian exchange students, Sahiban and Jeet, studying in Vancouver, Canada, meet and fall in love.Sahiban is attracted toward Jeet's intellect and strength and Jeet is knocked out by Sahiban's beauty and character.Their romance reaches its peak just before they have to return to their homes in India, but not before the biggest barrier to their love, their religions, threaten to keep them apart. Sahiban is a Muslim and Jeet is a Sikh. In old world India this difference is a cultural barrier to them remaining together.Jeet was unaware of Sahiban being a Muslim and when questioned by Jeet as to why she didn't tell him, she explains that her family is very liberal and she assumed it would also be the case with Jeet's family. But Jeet is from an Orthodox Sikh family. After their return to India, Jeet describes his love of Sahiban to his father, Balwant Singh, a Brigadier in the Indian Army. Balwant pointedly reminds Jeet of all the sacrifices Sikh's have made for their community and how Muslims have always been against the Sikh religion.Nevertheless, Jeet still approaches Sahiban's father Gul Khan for approval to marry Sahiban.Gul accepts Jeet's proposal to marry Sahiban but despite his liberal nature as described by Sahiban he imposes one condition - Jeet must convert to Islam.Jeet rejects Gul's condition and after they part, Gul orders his men to shoot Jeet on site if they see him around Sahiban or his home.Religion has come between the love of Jeet and Sahiban. Will Jeet risk meeting with Sahiban? Will Gul agree if Sahiban becomes Sikh? Will Balwant agree if Jeet becomes Muslim? Will religion win over love?Amidst this chaos, the two lovers consider what a Fakir once told the world:"Let's go to a place where everyone is blind. Where no one knows our religion and everyone holds us in high respect"
