Synopsis

When a commitment-avoiding musician falls in love, it sparks the jealousy of his uptight roommate.
Mel is a musician in Manhattan, whose longest relationship is with his pet fish Daphne. A hopeless romantic and a shameless Don Juan, he quickly falls in and out of love. On the spur of the moment, he decides to move in with his current girlfriend, Inga, so he sublets his place to Ginger, an English biologist who studies frogs.
The day he moves out, he meets bride-to-be Diana, falls in love with her instantly and breaks up with Inga. He moves back into his apartment and talks the unreceptive Ginger into becoming his temporary roommate. Mel desperately tries to get closer to the married Diana by taking a job as the elevator operator in her building.
While Mel chases Diana, Ginger finds herself falling for Mel against her better judgment. Strangely, one of her research frogs develops an attraction to Mel’s pet fish. Mel rejects Ginger’s advances as he starts getting somewhere with Diana, but he realizes he’s been chasing the wrong woman when his fish commits a dramatic act once she is separated from her amphibian love.
