Synopsis

East and West are the great divide for APRIL and TONG, separated for three years while April builds a new life as a promoter in Canada and Tong dreams of a music career in Hong Kong. April confronts Tong with a letter bomb – her wedding ring wrapped in an ultimatum to immigrate to Canada immediately. To make Tong jealous, April leads Tong to believe she’s having an affair with a “foreign devil.” Her assistant, CORA, tells Tong his wife can’t speak to him because she’s busy having lunch with Charles. Tong flies to Vancouver, but cannot commit himself to landed immigrant status. He has three days to reconcile with April, but finds she has left town, bound for Banff. He boards a bus in hot pursuit. Disoriented he gets off in a small town with no vacancies. April is there too, checking up on Charles, who is actually the sleazy manager of the Celtic band Finnegan’s Take that has lost its lead singer days before their performance at April’s promotion in Banff for an Irish micro-brewery. She gets a room at The Raven B&B just as co-owner NATASHA leaves her partner MATTHEW to see her ex-boyfriend from the days she was lead singer for Finnegan’s Take. Tong and April both see Natasha’s mesmerizing performance on stage, but manage to miss each other both in the crowd, and later at The Raven B&B. Natasha decides to leave Matthew and go to Banff with the band. Tong hitches a ride, still hoping to find April, who ends up giving Matthew a ride to go and find Natasha. A series of missed phone calls and misadventures on a road trip rich in comedy and poignancy lead the travelers to cold realities within themselves and warm encounters with each other. With hearts and clothes in disarray they finally arrive in Banff, only to understand the truth about where they now have come, and where they must be going.
