For years the little Swiss tax haven of Ruetlikon has lived very well off the revenue from Berlin crooner RONNY. But now that the star has fallen from grace, Ruetlikon's resourceful mayor KÖBI decides to abduct Ronny in order to cure him in Switzerland's idyllic alps and build him up for a comeback.

For many years the little alpine village of Ruetlikon has lived well off the revenue of German crooner RONNY BLUM, who has kept a small flat there as a tax dodge. But now that Ronny has succumbed to drink, fallen out of favor with the audience and scored no bankable hits for some time the village is in danger of insolvency, which would lead to its incorporation into its unloved neighboring community. Not if KÖBI, Ruetlikon's resourceful mayor, can help it. He enlists two energetic citizens to help him abduct Ronny from the Babylon of Berlin and drag him to Switzerland's idyllic mountains in order to cure him and prepare him for his comeback. Once they have gotten past some initial hiccups Ronny begins to appreciate the trouble that his "true" neighbors have gone to on his behalf and feels indebted to them. But his depression proves to be more pervasive than he thought; Ronny has lost his knack for writing hits. Soon, however, he realizes: It takes a village to write the "Song for Ruetlikon"...
