DREAMLAND is a multi-narrative portrayal of desire, solitude and betrayal in affluent Switzerland. Set in Zurich on the 24th of December, the narratives unfold against a stark backdrop of human trafficking and prostitution. While preparing the family Christmas dinner, pregnant LENA (38) discovers that her husband is deceiving her with prostitutes. JUDITH (45), is a dedicated social worker who pursues her own sexual fantasies, betraying her boyfriend with a police officer. ROLF (53), a recently divorced recovering alcoholic, is trying to mend his relationship with his teenage daughter. MARIA (68) widowed and desperately lonely, yearns to seduce grieving JUAN (70), who still can‘t get over the death of his wife. All their paths cross with MIA (18), a Bulgarian girl working as a prostitute on the streets of Zürich.
