Synopsis
OLIVER is a hard-working Portfolio Manager, living the life in the fast lane. With a custom-made Maserati, tailored suits, and a beautiful woman by his side Oliver has it all. However, he wants more, faster, which ends up leaving him in the hospital after a devastating car crash. Diagnosis: paraplegia.
Two months of rehab should prepare him for a life in a wheelchair, but Oliver is just not up for it. He wants to get back to business as soon as possible. Trying to score important deals right out of rehab he despairs from the slow internet on the premises. In search of the strongest WiFi signal, he finally stumbles into the "Goldfish Group", a band of disabled roommates in a board and care home: FRANZI, an outgoing girl with down syndrome, MAGDA a blind cynic with rough humor, two autists, RAINMAN, the 80ies pop fan, and MICHI with his red safety helmet along with their nurses LAURA and EDDY, who have their own crosses to bear.
When Oliver learns that his illegal financial transactions in Zürich are about to blow, he gets an idea: “Wouldn’t a bus with a bunch of handicapped people make the perfect camouflage to smuggle 1.2 million Euros across the German-Swiss border?” While he has convinced the rehab management that he is only generously taking the group on a therapeutic camel back riding trip to Switzerland, he’s buying Eddy as an accomplice to get his money back. But things are about to go south when Eddy, at the sight of countless bills, decides to raise his share from only 500 to 100.000 Euros and Laura discovers the banknotes underneath Oliver's clothes…
It all ends up in a rousing road trip – beyond the boundaries of greed, glamour, luck and legality.
