This is a story of two friends, who lost contact due to a tragic accident when they were young, and suddenly find each other again many years after. This is a story about love, betrayal and hope.One observes two realities unfolding, two time-frames: first one is the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the other one is the life of the modern Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Both time periods connect to each other, showing the audience the cause-and-effect development of the main characters relation...The period of the USSR collapse is the time of Armenia's self-determination as a state. A dramatic period when the valueswere reassessed: destroyed lives, separated families… The father of the protagonist Levon, choses one path, whereas his wife choses completely different one... The tragedy of the generation is undeniable. The parents of Levon die accidently at the end of the film. They have no future. The understanding of their tragedy is stressed by the wedding scene, which is remembered by the father before his death. The wedding is a sublime, humane, and, perhaps, the most archetypal event. But the audience already knows, that two loving people (Levon’s parents) are not destined to be together.This is the tragedy of a whole generation, which was split and crushed by the circumstances of that period of history.
