Synopsis
A young and beautiful black lady, LINDIWE, sets out to reconcile painful and unforgettable memories of her past by confronting SCHALK, a young Afrikaaner man in his 20s whom she holds responsible as the perpetrator of her sufferings. They meet in a restaurant, Collide Fusion Foods, where an unsuspecting Schalk is caught in a vengeful and life threatening trap as he finds himself seated on a chair with an explosive rigged beneath it by Lindiwe.
In a series of verbally tense and shocking confrontations, swinging between Schalks deep sense of guilt and remorse and Lindiwe’s relentless resentment, the truth behind their meeting is slowly revealed. Concurrently, an even more dangerous truth – the threatening presence of the prepared explosive – creates a feeling of fear and nervousness between them that escalates with the progressive intensity of the atmosphere Collide.
Meanwhile, a young Cape Coloured employee of the restaurant, TYRONE, and his colleague girlfriend BRITTANY, struggle to balance their own tensions. The weight of a concealed cocaine package in the restaurant fridge weighs heavily on Tyrone’s mind as he battles to maintain a sense of normality around him in spite of untimely interjections from his girlfriend and his manager, MIKEY.
Tyrone’s uneasiness and anxiety continue to increase as an unexpected visit form his ex-convict brother and the news of Brittany’s pregnancy jeopardizes his plans to conceal – and then later hand over in a series of dangerous struggles – the cocaine package to a syndicate waiting mercilessly outside the back of the restaurant’s kitchen.
Also outside Collide, is MOHAMMED, a desolate and weary looking man seated on the driver’s side of an old, parked Ford. Like Lindiwe, he is grappling the pains of his own reality – the knowledge that his wife, ASHLANIA, is having an affair with Collide’s manager, MIKEY. The inside of Mohammed’s Ford is a place of solitude for him as he quietly watches the callous behavior of his cheating wife through his car’s window; his fingers all the while moving timidly between an important sealed envelope, the strings of his treasured violin and the gun with which he contemplates his suicide.
Lindiwe, Tyrone and Mohammed’s separate yet synchronized attempts at fiddling with destiny, and the delicate line between life and death, ultimately culminate in a devastating and explosive collision of fate. Neither one’s desperate intentions and desires manifest as planned and, in a deadly and final crash, everyone involved suffers the inevitable, far reaching consequences ever-present in the pursuit of retribution
