Synopsis

An elderly couple living in Onomichi travel to Tokyo to meet their adult children... Depiction of a family which falls apart amid post-war rapid growth.
There is a line of dialogue in one of Ozu's films that says: “That which is truly new will never grow old.” We believe this refers to works of cinema that continue to conjure fresh inspiration and emotion in the hearts of viewers, regardless of the era in which they are seen. It would be safe to say that even today, Ozu's films remain a source of new inspiration to many.
