Karen, a 38-year-old couples’ counselor and mother of three, is living what she believes is the perfect life, well aware that every marriage has its up and downs. She believes in the importance of intimacy and the deep connection between her and her husband Matthias, until her life is turned upside down when she discovers her husband’s infidelity. Suddenly the deep connection and love she believed so strong in, seems very far away and Karen must say good-bye to the utopian vision of the perfect family. Now every second weekend the children go to their father’s, which is not good for Karen’s image, – neither in her personal life nor her business, where the professional advice she gives her clients about marriage and relationships now seem absurd. Both Karen and Matthias are struggling to find a new balance in life. They need to cope with both each other and new relations brought in by an intense dating market, which was very different when Karen and Matthias met each other many years ago.
Soon Karen ́s struggle to cope with loss and unrealistic expectations starts to affect not only her children, but also her parents, professional work and most intimate surroundings.
