Year of production : 2008 Director(s) : Yulene OLAIZOLA
In her debut feature documentary, Olaizola investigates a mysterious nook in her family’s history, by revisiting the house owned by her grandmother, Rosa Elena Carabajal, on the corner of Shakespeare and Victor Hugo streets in Mexico City. There, she uncovers the strange story of Jorge Riosse, who died over fifteen years ago, yet still exerts a profound and unsettling presence in Carabjal’s life. Rosa Elena remembers him vividly, for his sensitive disposition, intelligence and his unfailing ability to make her laugh. But she also recalls his tormented private side, wracked with identity issues, battling schizophrenia and depression. Most worrying of all, his stay at her house coincided exactly with a spate of grisly murders of young women in the district - could he have been responsible?
