At age 50, alcoholic and unemployed, Raul’s counterbalance is his passion for Ligia. Tired of the routine of scarcity in the decaying building where she lives with Raul, on the outskirts of Recife, Ligia decides to leave him. Raul falls into the abyss of this interrupted passion. Sick, he developes, between health centers and temporary works, a sweet relationship with Cassia, a 16-year-old who also drowned in the abyss of the dirty night.She has a history of sexual abuse; Raul is the first man not to do this, which makes her cling to him, but Raul resists taking the relationship seriously. After a few weeks away, he gets the news that she committed suicide. With his mind and body rotten by disease, Raul meets Inês, a corpse, which appears in the boarding house where he lives. Raul spends a day with this corpse and perceives it as if it were alive. He goes on a journey with Inês to Janga beach, in Olinda, intending to throw the body into the sea.
