Synopsis

A single mother takes his teenage son on a trip to reunite him with his father, whom they haven’t seen in ten years. Staged in a rugged landscape where the isolation and distance are highlighted by the Chilean south’s quiet beauty, the reunion will be tainted by distrust and tenderness, nostalgia and fear of the future. Castro San-Martín’s camera keeps himself a few steps behind his characters as they go through wide open landscapes and the urban labyrinths of their daily routines, in a naturalist, near-documentary kind of approach. The long silences of everyday life are barely filled with radio broadcasters, the noise from machines and engines, or the singing of the birds. Beneath these private and shared silences –and the few spared dialogs– you can feel the scars of carried conflicts and, specially, the shadow of an uncertain future.
