Synopsis
The morning: seventy-year-old Wlodek finds a letter, in which his wife informs him that she is leaving him. Because of this horrible news Włodek faints and ends up in hospital.
The next day in hospital, Włodek is visited by his son and teenage grandson. Paweł, the son is a world famous celebrity pianist, he came from Berlin where he lives. Maciek, the grandson is a student, he came from London where he lives with his mother.
It turns out that both guys have not kept in touch for years. Here they are faced with shocking news that their mother/grandma fell in love and left grandpa to be with another man. She, as they suppose, left to live with the man in a picturesque place near a lake. Paweł knows the place. He used to go there with his parents for summer holidays. He decides to go there, find his mother, and bring her back within two days at the latest. Afterwards they would go back to their homes in Europe, back to their well organized and settled lives.
Włodek opposes the idea, and if anybody has to go, he insists on going along – it’s his wife after all. Maciek wants to go too, he won’t let Włodek go unless he is allowed to assist his grandpa. The next morning the whole trio goes for the trip.
Right away old frictions come back to life: between Włodek and Paweł as well as between Paweł and Maciek. Common goal gives them the opportunity to get to know each other anew. Each new day of being together will expose their fears, memories, and sometimes deeply hidden secrets. They soon find out that the seeming differences turn out to be similarities, and what appeared to be bad is good in fact.
Soon it becomes obvious, that more important than wife’s/mother’s/granny’s return is building loving relationship, finding again love that once faded away…
