Synopsis
LOVE EXTREME (original title EXTREMADURAN PORTRAITS) is an intimately drawn study of three distinct individuals who are motivated by creativity, bound together by their collective passion and hampered by their own personal fears. It tackles modern-day race relations in the EU and the USA, bisexuality and dysfunctional enabling relationships, while surrounded by the alluring sun-drenched region of Southern Spain, as the canvas of the film is filled with wide expansive images of a world molded by its extreme climate. A place where man, beast and insect alike scrape for any traces of moisture to survive. This extreme location is a parallel to how David, Dolores and Leighton grapple with each other over the tiniest scraps of love, while cocooned together for five fateful days, devouring and renewing each other’s emotions, in this harsh setting where ultimately none of them belong.
As much as David is all sky, impossible to contain, Leighton is the earth, grounded, level headed and kind, and Dolores is the water that flows between them; ever molded by their influence and yet a powerful force that is vital enough to sustain David’s life. It’s what flows beneath and between the words of these three people that is the heart and soul of LOVE EXTREME.
A cinematic treasure chest will be unlocked by filming in Extremadura, Spain; this enchanted land of grape vines, olive groves, sheep, fighting bulls, and passionate, rugged people. A place where its historic villages and castles bear witness to past centuries of conflict between the Christians, Moors and Jews.
Every frame of this film will be worthy of a portrait, as we illuminate this complex tale of love and sacrifice.
