After a 14 year hiatus, cult writer/director Philip Ridley is back with a vengeance with the visually stunning horror/thriller HEARTLESS - a fiercely shocking and intelligent spine-chiller that reinvents the horror genre. Jim Sturgess delivers a career defining performance in this twisted story which is equal parts psychological thriller, desperate romance and terrifying Faustian horror… The decaying city is plagued with violence and brutal murders, and the introverted Jamie (JIM STURGESS), ostracized because of the heart-shaped birthmark across half his face, lives alone, hiding himself away from the horrors around him. When he witnesses his mother’s bloody murder by a gang of demonic street thugs, Jamie becomes hell-bent on vigilante justice. And it is this quest for bitter vengeance that leads him to Papa B, the embodiment of Satan - who lures Jamie into accepting a Faustian deal in exchange for minor acts of chaos, which may never be called in… Jamie soon finds himself with an unblemished face, and the attention of the beautiful Tia (CLEMENCE POESY) who never noticed him before. As their romance grows, Jamie becomes confident, happy even, and his whole life starts to turn around, until Papa B sends the ‘Weapons Man’ (EDDIE MARSAN) to deliver instructions of what Jamie is obliged to do in return… these ‘minor acts of chaos’ are in fact brutal murders, and in order to protect the ones he loves, Jamie has no choice but to follow through…
