A documentary about the obsession that binds a man from the XIXth Century, Orllie Antoine I, self-proclaimed king of Patagonia and Araucania, and Juan Fresán, a filmmaker who tries to shoot the story of the king until the end of his days. Their obsession is the reason for this film to exist.

Orllie Antoine de Tounens, a lonely Frenchman dreaming of empires, crosses the Andes and proclaims himself King of Patagonia and Araucania in 1860. He is thirty-five years old. He had been an attorney in Périgueux and an avid reader of geography and travel books. Juan Fresán, a renowned argentine designer and publicist, tries to film that story in 1972 but leavesit unconcluded because he had to go Venezuela into exile. In his film crew there was Carlos Sorín as the director of photography and Jorge Goldemberg as a cowriter. Many years later and with the rise of democracy, Sorín and Goldenberg direct the multi-awarded Película del Rey, a film inspired in the life of an eccentric film director who tries to film the story of Orllie Antoine I. Among men and regions there are secret correspondences. When Juan Fresán went back to Argentina, he found the material again and called Lucas Turturro, the person who would direct this film, which has been selected by INCAA. He wanted Lucas to help him to finish his story once and for all. But the task was left incomplete once again; Juan dies on July 14th, 2004. However, the movie insists that it wants to be projected and the job is finished… in this kind of cartographic correspondence, spiritual geography of the Southern Cone.
