Synopsis
DOC works as a night doctor at the Parossien hospital. He’s used to working several days in a row with no sleep, covering other doctors’ shifts for cash. His life is a gray one with no foreseeable future.
Alongside Nilda, the shift nurse, a 50 year old devout Christian with proper manners, he spends his days and nights awake by popping pills.
But tonight all that will change.
Unexpectedly, the Nafta Super (Super Gasoline) Gang shows up at the hospital. They’re a gang of tough guy thieves, famous throughout the area. And they’re bringing in no other than the notorious Nafta Super, who’s been mortally wounded.
At gunpoint, DOC is forced to revive him giving him an electric shock “that would kill any other human being.” But not Super, who is revived but in a coma. The gang members take NILDA and DOC hostage. Meanwhile, everyone else in the hospital flees, knowing the police will bust in and spare no lives.
Little by little, DOC starts to realize that he’s not with normal people; each gang member has a different power. Blast, “the toughest,” is extraordinarily fast; the one they call WEIRD JOHN, has an exceptional intelligence; PHEASANT has a green ring that lights up and seems to be a weapon…
They explain to DOC that they have to wait for daybreak for Nafta to revive. It sounds all a bit magical.
Throughout the night, DOC and Nilda hear stories about Nafta Super’s invulnerability and extraordinary powers.
Meanwhile, corrupt agents of the greater Buenos Aires police force have the outside of the hospital surrounded. They’ve come to annihilate Super in his moment of weakness. His archenemy, Sabiola, “Baldy,” has given the order.
The only thing stopping them from going into the hospital is that they’re waiting for the arrival of a huge officer called TURTLE HEAD. He’s the only who has ever able to match Super in a fight.
That night, on the brink of death, DOC understands that the legends are real, that sometimes you have no choice but to believe…
Finally, the confrontation between the Nafta Super gang and Turtle Head and the police will be epic. The ending will be so unexpected that it’ll appear to come about by divine intervention.
