Synopsis
It's 1963, the very peak of the cultural upheavals of the 60s, when straight arrow Harvard Law School jock ANDREW DOCKER returns to his ancestral home in Northern England to collect his inheritance after a long exile in America. What he finds instead is his brother JEREMY running a notorious rock club who wants him gone or dead, an entrancing young rock singer named FIONA who has haunted his dreams since childhood... and a fratricidal Curse locals believe has forced brother to kill brother in this dark northern land for a thousand years that is not only real - HE is the carrier of it.
Caught in a spiral that will force him to murder his own brother or be killed by him instead, Andrew must not only unravel his delusions about himself, but physically unravel the very fabric of the world, all the way back to another reality a thousand years in the past, when the two great civilisations of the world fought each other in the savage bloodbath of The Crusades.
Unlike traditional stories of Good and Evil, in THE UNRAVELLING Andrew discovers that the only way to stem the tide of Evil in the world and to save himself, his brother and the woman he comes to love, is to harness the deep, elemental Evil in himself.
And as he undergoes this profound transformation, metamorphosing between the tumultuous world of the 60s, the 11th Century, and a timeless Uberworld inhabited by the Gods of humankind's own making, the first paradigm-shifting turning point of THE UNRAVELLING TRILOGY emerges...Gods and Devils are Real. But they didn't make us. WE made THEM. They are living parts of our own deepest selves, accumulated from millions of generations of human souls. It's a discovery that puts the power to change the world into Andrew's own hands. Will he act to save himself, his brother, the woman he loves, even the world from its savage end? Can he? Can we?
