Eduardo arrives at a mental hospital to work on some building repairs. There he falls in love with Carolina, one of the patients, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Eduardo decides to abduct Carolina, carrying her off to live with him. When he does, he discovers that the love between them outside the mental institution is chaos, which leads him to take her back to the psychiatric center. This occasions in Eduardo a profound existential crisis, from which he manages to escape only by pretending to be crazy so that he is admitted to the mental hospital and can be by the side of his beloved Carolina.
