Synopsis

Farkas Kempelen is one of the greatest talent of his age. Although he could be remembered for doing so much, the only invention he is truly recognized for is the invention of the Turkish, a chess automaton. The contraption hid a little dwarf, who was a perfect opponent for any willing player. He and Kempelen became the greatest of teams, as well as rivals. Joseph the II. officially had them travel across Europe, to kings’ courts, to the Vatican, and they played with some of the most well known artisans, politicians and the greatest chess player of the time.
The situations depicted in the story are not just simple chess matches but rather the games the two genius’ play with one another, as well the games of power played.
