One day, an attractive young woman Kamala, wants to get a letter written to her husband who has migrated to Mumbai to make a living. It turns out that she was in school with Mahadev when they were children. The kiss he demanded from her for writing her notes in his excellent hand gave his teacher apoplexy. All along, Mahadev has believed that she was removed from school by her parents because of his indiscretion. Seeing her, Mahadev’s latent love for her is awakened. In order to make her fall in love with him, he writes to her husband in ways that will alienate both of them from each other. He almost succeeds in his plans until an event takes place that transforms him from a villainous cad to a copy book hero. With this as the narrative frame, Mahadev ka Sajjanpur shows in an entertaining, musical and comedic way, characters and events that are at once hilarious and poignant. A delightful satirical take on a contemporary Indian village.
