It's the morning of 1st January and there's a telephone ringing. Murphy, a young man of 25, wakes up with his young wife and 3-year-old child. He then listens to his answering machine. On the message, Electra's mother, who is extremely worried, asks him if he has had any news from her daughter who disappeared a long time ago. She is afraid that she has had a serious accident.During the course of a long grey day, Murphy finds himself alone in his apartment remembering his great love story with Electra that lasted for two years: it was a passionate time filled with all sorts of promises and excesses. Their affair was ended suddenly when, after trying a three-way relationship, the first girl fell pregnant by him.Despite an opium tablet given to him at the time by Electra and which he swallows to calm himself down, Murphy is increasingly unhappy. He imagines briefly what his life might have become had it been Electra, his only true love, who fell pregnant by him. In the shower, he starts to cry. His young child than comes into the bathroom and tries to comfort him. Murphy cries even more.
