Synopsis

Edgar D’Hoore, the Belgian owner of a Wolfram mine in Valborraz, Galicia (NW Spain), is murdered. His youngest son, Edgar, witnesses the murder.
The name Wolfram means “dirty wolves”, its name in Latin is “lupiespuma”, or the stone that eats tin as the wolf eats sheep …Always Wolves…
And in Galicia, in a corner of northern Spain, during World War II, the German Nazis were looking for wolfram on mountains filled with wolves that inspired countless legends.
One of those mines was called “the city of the Germans”.
The Nazis were looking for the mineral in order to manufacture arms, and the Francoist dictatorship used the mines as a prison where political prisoners extracted wolfram… and died of silicosis from the dust they breathed.
The importance of these mines did not go unnoticed by the Allies, and British and American spies were sent to the area to prevent the mineral reaching the German factories.
And in the middle of all those conflicting interests were the inhabitants of those towns. By day they tried to survive the hard work in the mines. And by night they trafficked with the wolfram.
So while the World War II was being fought in Europe, and Spain was recovering from a war between brothers, in Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, small battles were being fought over survival, espionage and betrayal. And women miners were the protagonists.
2 women miners are fighting to survive at this unique, convulsive moment. They struggle to survive with a double game: during the day they work at the mine, at night, they deal in the black market at the “magic” yew forest of Teixadal...full of wolves of all kinds.
Every step they take will be watched by wolves: Sergeant Márquez, who is in charge of the Francoist prisoners serving their sentences in the mine, and the Nazis led by George Burg, who is in love with one of the women, Manuela.
The arrival of two men to the mine will change everything forever.
One of these men is Edgar an Allied spy and the boy who witnessed his father’s murder. He comes on a twofold mission. Officially, to sabotage the Wolfram extracted here to be sent to the Nazi weapons factories.
His hidden mission is to find his father's murderer to avenge him.
Miguel, is the other man to change the course of history for the mine and these women. Miguel arrives with another contingent of prisoners requested by the Nazis to the Government of Spain to work in the mine.
Miguel then sees only one clear goal, to escape with the guerrilla and consummate his revenge, though he doesn't yet know how to.
Edgar, the spy of the Allies, will provide a solution.
Edgar and Miguel prepare a sting on the mine. Miguel from inside the mine, with help from Manuela, and Edgar from the outside, with the help from the guerrilla and Candela.
But Candela and Manuela are not just the illiterate, fighter miners women that Edgar and Miguel believe her to be. Candela and Manuela have gotten themselves into a mess the consequences of which they cannot even imagine: they are set up a network to assist Jews to scape.
The tense situation is bound to explode, bringing out the best and the worst in human beings.
“Dirty Wolves” is a story of love, adventure, intrigue and action based on true incidents reflected in the documentary “Lobos sucios”
