The Great Patriotic War. 1941.

They were dogs and they were tank hunters.
Only a few know that at the beginning of the war the Red Army had entire units of such fighters.
1941. At the front line. German troops attack the field hospital of the Red Army. The wounded soldiers try to oppose but have to retreat after the battle with great losses. The hospital was destroyed. Among those who managed to survive there were one young pilot Vyacheslav Volkov mutilated by the explosion with his dog Red and girlfriend Nina.
In an astounding display of its unique abilities the dog Red demonstrated real "human" devotion and friendship when helping Vyacheslav Volkov to re-enter the ranks of the army.
Vyacheslav Volkov and his shepherd named Red are sent to the kennel center, where dogs are being prepared for military service. Volkov along with his friend Dog undergoes a special military training and adaptation too.
When it seems that life is just getting better, there the family quarrels begin. Tatyana, an old friend of Vyacheslav, becomes the subject of Nina's jealousy. Nina suspects that Vyacheslav and Tatyana have long been in love with each other and that brings discord into relations.
One day Nina saw them together after what she decided to leave Vyacheslav because was confident in his adultery.
A new stroke of fate was awaiting for Vyacheslav on service, when he learnt that dogs were being used as “live mines”.
Vyacheslav is forced to watch his friend Red is being sent to blow up the tanks.
He also learns that Nina went to the front. As it turned out she is pregnant. Tatyana also disappeared.
Red during the trainings is running with a false mine for tanks on his back.
Volkov learns that Nina was killed at the front. But she wasn`t.
The Germans approached Moscow and Volkov with his Dog Red were sent to the front line.
The forces are not equal and there is a bloody mess on the battlefield. Vyacheslav Volkov was injured and trapped between the tanks.
As fate has willed he meets Nina at the most fatal moment of his life.
Trying to save Nina he had to send Red to death. Volkov was seriously wounded.
And Dog Red under the threat of death independently makes a decision to save Nina and Vyacheslav and to die under the tank. Now Volkov lost really everything ...
Volkov was saved.

War is over.
Vyacheslav Volkov accidentally meets Tatyana with a five-year old boy... After the war she found son of Nina and Tatyana and decided to adopt him.
Passing such a long and hard way Vyacheslav suddenly realizes such common things that real happiness is not measured by achievements and that to be a human means simply to love!
To love like Dog Red could love… and heroically died for love!
