Synopsis

Czechoslovakia, early 1980s. The totalitarian regime, with all its dullness and shades of grey, seems imperishable. Antonin, a member of the secret police, uneasy, tyrannical, perhaps even psychopathic, is percolating with unvoiced anger and desperation. Bored, he turns his obsession towards a young woman, Klara. It is not love, it is not purity, but simply a burning desire for the illusion of escape. While trying to connect with her, Antonin has to remove the people who stand in his way, which pits him not only against the dissent but also against his own people. When he breaks the rules of the organization he serves, it is neither a civic nor a political gesture. It is rebellion, purely personal and wholly savage. The wheels of fate are spinning.
