Paris, the Louvre Museum, a spring morning. Under the watchful gaze of our 4K cameras Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting “La Belle Ferronnière” is removed from the wall, packed and sent by plane to Milan to inaugurate “Leonardo 1452-1519”, one of the most decisive exhibitions ever to be held on Leonardo. This exhibition-event is the result of 6 years work by leading Leonardo experts, Pietro Marani and M. Teresa Fiorio. The route taken runs in a dynamic in-and-out. On the one hand, we will admire in detail the masterpieces that have been gathered together for the exhibition, such as La Belle Ferronnière, the Annunciation and St. John the Baptist and the Dreyfuss Madonna; on the other hand, we will explore the masterpieces of Leonardo to be found in Milan: from the Last Supper to the Atlantic Codex; from the locks on Milan’s Navigli canals to audacious experiments in engineering and mechanics. Moreover, we’ll explore some unknown places, such as Leonardo’s original vineyard in Milan which reveal backstories and secrets of the genius. At the end of this journey through the city that inspired and engaged him, we will have discovered the artist, the man and the genius: Leonardo the painter, Leonardo the scientist, Leonardo the engineer, Leonardo the writer, Leonardo the architect.
