Synopsis

Yoko Sano, 70 year-author of picture books, was diagnosed with cancer given 2 years to live in2008. She was spending her remaining days as if nothing really happened but realized it will come someday. Her picture book, published 33 years ago, is “The Cat That Lived a Million Times”. This book, insightful for life and love is based on the author’s view of life and death. It has been read by patents and kids for decades and deeply influenced to their lives.
While reciting her masterpiece picture-book “The Cat That Lived a Million Times”, people talk about their views of life and death. On the other hand, Sano is slowly heading to the death. The camera captures both Sano and the people who read the book and talk about their lives. The only connection between them is the book. The film also tries to capture the shadow of “death” and even new “life” in scenes of Tokyo, Kita Karuizawa, and Beijing; Places where Sano has lived in her life. This is a tranquil documentary looking at life and death.
