Synopsis
London’s Soho - the ever-shrinking bastion of creativity and depravity in today’s over-commercialised world. But something lurks there, even darker than many imagine…
Into this world comes our hero, Danny. A wide-eyed hopeful from the wrong-side of the tracks, with a bass guitar slung across his back. He’s here to audition for goth-metal band The Vampires Of Soho. Danny is short-haired, tracksuited - and human - everything the Vampires are not. But they’re desperate for a bass player, so they take him on.
And so Danny joins Esteban, Zoe, Mel and Lord Sorrow - collectively The Vampires Of Soho - and the band take to the stages of the London toilet-circuit. But now, with Danny’s songwriting skills on board, the bands fortunes begin to change. They are transformed from playing pub backrooms, to packed-out crowds in Soho’s sweatiest nightspots.
The band sign with music impresario Brian, and a future of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll looks assured. Even more so when Danny falls in love with keyboard player Mel, and the two start a passionate romance.
It’s then that Mel lets Danny in on the band’s secret. It’s not just a clever name - they really are vampires. Danny is shocked, but Mel convinces him to remain in the band. The rest of the band remain less than convinced that having a human in their group is a good idea, but promise not to eat him as long as the good times keep rolling...
The good times don’t keep rolling of course. Danny lives with his only relative, his Gran, and acts as her carer. She is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and Danny can only think of one way to save her...
And so he persuades Mel to reluctantly turn his Gran into a vampire. She doesn’t take to the transformation well, and becomes a bloodthirsty creature of the night, killing the local youths.
This brings things to a head between Mel and Danny, and they split up, with Danny quitting the band. But then Danny is seduced by Zoe, who promises to show him the true nature of vampires. It’s not pretty - Danny learns the band have been feasting on groupies, and it’s all down to his songwriting bringing them fresh victims.
Danny now knows what he must do - breaking up the band isn’t enough - he needs to kill them all before any more innocent people die. But how can he go up against a gang of super-powerful vampires?
It’s then that the band’s manager offers him another choice, another chance to sell his soul...
He’ll give him the power to destroy the others, but it means Danny becoming a vampire himself.
Danny makes his choice, and sets after the band, dispatching them one by one. Until eventually, it’s just him and Mel. Can he kill the girl he loves...?
