A fire photography and an accident whit his nine-year-old son causes Gerald to collapse and undergo an episode of selective mutism. A few days later, he leaves his family and escapes to the desert in a motorhome. The only link he manages to sustain is with a small magazine where he has a column dedicated to birds.The action begins with Gerald preparing to receive the visit of his son whom he has not seen for eighteen years.
