Rachel dreams of becoming a singer, but works as pole dancer in a seedy bar in downtown Sao Paulo. She maintains the depressed mother Maria Claudia, who spends her days drinking alcohol and watching television. Rachel has a brother, Alex, who works as a telemarketing attendant, and lives alone in a apartment in the suburb. Rachel struggles to be a successful singer. Rui is a retired radio announcer who lives alone in his small apartment in Bela Vista neighborhood. Music is his passion, so he continues to present programs of classical music in a small radio. His daughter Neusa works as real estate broker, and is always at risk in her job for failing to sell the proposed quotas. Neusa has a son, Rodrigo, who loves his grandfather but can hardly see him. Rui goes almost every night to the bar where Rachel works, really enjoying the moments when she sings songs of her own. Neusa is trying to sell a property, while her son runs away to visit his grandfather. Alex leads a solitary life, since when he had a fight with his mother and left home, since she discovered that he is gay. He leads a lonely and secluded life, but one day some work mates invite him to a night out. In a dramatic sequence of events Rachel loses everything she has to be able to find a new direction, Alex will have experiences that will change his life, while Rui has a big surprise and is finally able to find a meaning for his existence.
