Ben is sent to jail after causing a car accident that kills his girlfriend. When he returns to his hometown after a long time he has to face his in-laws, who gained custody of his daughter. They plan never to let Ben see his little girl again. But Ben is determined to make up for lost time.

Synopsis

Ben lives in the little village of Waldstille, in the South of the Netherlands, with his girlfriend Tinka and their
daughter Cindy. After a fight during carnival he drunkenly drives off with Tinka. Ben causes a car accident that tragically kills Tinka. Ben is sent to jail.
After a long time Ben returns to Waldstille. Tinka’s parents gained custody of Cindy and still blame Ben for
causing Tinka’s death. When Tinka’s dad hears that Ben is back in town, he demands that he leaves. Tinka’s father fears that Ben will ruin their lives and tells him that he will never see his little girl again.
Debbie, Tinka’s sister, tries to mediate and secretly arranges a meeting between Ben and Cindy. Cindy, who can’t remember her father, is reluctant. The three of them visit a fun fair and Debbie leaves Ben and Cindy alone for a minute. Ben feels so pressured that he runs of with Cindy.
