Synopsis

Sur le rythme tells the story of a 20-year-old woman, Delphine Lamarre, torn between living her dream as a dancer or respecting her parents’ wished and becoming a doctor.
From an early age, Delphine has never been inclined to obey her parents. Until now she has followed the path laid out for her out of inertia. But when she meets an extraordinary dancer, Marc Painchaud, her dream takes on new life, because having such an excellent partner opens new possibilities. Without consulting her parents, she decides to go to school part time so that she can spend more time dancing. Her grandmother, her closest confidant, urges her to follow her heart rather than her parents’ wishes. Encouraged by the advice of her grandmother and Marc, Delphine rediscovers her self-confidence and makes a momentous decision for her future. But it’s a decision that will have an impact on her friendships and family life. Her choice – dance – poisons her already tense relationship with her mother. And the fact that her dance partner, Marc, happens to be the ex-boyfriend of her best friend, Julianne, puts an end to a life-long friendship. Delphine tries everything she can to repair her broken relationships, but eventually realizes that life can’t always be as perfect as she’d like.
