Sidney Young (Simon Pegg) wants to be a man about town but apart from the bouncers who throw him out of VIP areas all over London, no one knows his name – this is about to change. He has just been chosen to work at Sharps, the highly prestigious magazine in New York. Surely fame, success, and beautiful women will follow, but sadly not if you are Sidney Young. Women cross the room to avoid him, he is an embarrassment to his colleagues and he is every publicist’s worst nightmare. Sidney is beginning to ask himself what he has to do to make it in American and date the gorgeous starlet Sophie Maes. More importantly, what price is he going to have to pay?
