Synopsis

In the midst of a violent snowstorm, a drunken middle-aged man runs over and
kills someone with his yellow sidewalk snowplow. He wakes up at the wheel,
deep in the forest unaware of where he is, and must rely on the weapon of his
crime to survive the harsh winter conditions.
Leaving the forest is a struggle. Every time he finds a way out, he is forced back
to the plow to take refuge. His frustration grows as all paths seem to lead right
back to the snowplow. When he sprains his ankle he is forced to remain in the
plow for almost four weeks where the cold, malnutrition, solitude and
overwhelming sense of guilt test his sanity. All he wants is to go back to life as
usual.
He eventually succeeds in taking a snowmobile from an isolated house he
discovers about a half-day’s walk away. Back home he attempts to cover his
crime, but Bruce can’t go back to life as usual. The police are after him and he
doesn’t have much to come home to. Bruce must make a decision: run, or turn
himself in.
Set in the snowy winter of Northern Quebec, Whitewash is a dark-comedy
thriller that follows a man’s imprisonment in the forest and his quest for survival,
redemption and sanity.
