Synopsis

Mark (Colin Farrell) and David (Jamie Sives) are expert war photographers capturing the images of war torn Kurdistan. Mark is highly ambitious and wants to pursue the fighting for another few days in search of the ultimate shot but David has had enough of the dirt, hopelessness and violence and leaves to go home to his pregnant wife Diane (Kelly Reilly). Mark, badly injured ends up in a local makeshift hospital in the Harir caves where he previously witnessed and recorded Doctor Talzani (Branko Djuric) playing God. Talzani is fighting against the odds in a hillside hospital deciding his patients’ fate with coloured tags – yellow to receive treatment and blue for certain death. Things have now flipped and Mark is the suffering patient watching desperately as his life hangs in the balance only to gain a reprieve with a yellow tag from Dr.Talzani.
When Mark returns bloody and bruised, he is shocked but not initially worried to hear David hasn’t made it home. Mark’s wife Elena (Paz Vega) is worried enough for the both of them. Mark is exhausted, disorientated and unable to slip back into his old life in Dublin. To make things worse, his limp is becoming more pronounced. Looking at the slides of the photographs he took in Kurdistan, he notices a figure in the distance.
When Elena returns to their apartment she finds him collapsed on the floor. In the hospital the doctors come to the conclusion that his inability to walk is in fact a psychological problem and he needs the help of a psychiatrist. Elena has no option but to call in a favour from her estranged grandfather, Joaquin (Christopher Lee), who was responsible for the ‘purification’ of war criminals after the Spanish Civil War. Joaquin immediately sets about unearthing the root of Mark’s problems revealing the shocking truth.
