Synopsis

It is 1947 Japan, when people are still suffering from defeat in the War. A man who was believed to be dead returns to his hometown. Before the War he was recognized as a popular and gifted `Rakugo` (comic story) performer with a promising future, by the name of Usagi Morinoya. But now his face is bandaged due to an injury suffered in the War, and he has totally lost his memory. He just utters empty remarks, as if muttering slight recollections of `Rakugo` stories. But his fiance, Yayoi, is grateful that he is alive, even in this condition. Then another man appears who is identical to Usagi... The strange destiny of the two men is portrayed through surrealistic visual imagery by director Itao Itsuji in this ambitious work.
