Sizwe a corporate lawyer working for a large cell phone network company, recently saved the company millions of rands by winning a civil claim case against them. He is also being head hunted by the World Bank as their consultant in the SADC region with a mouth watering six digit salary. He is dating the woman of his dreams Nozuko, who took a break from working to finish her MBA. He can not ask for more as his father "Chief Ngangolwandle" has also woken up from a two year coma. What he doesn't know is that his father has got very little time to live and he makes a decision that will turn Sizwe's destiny for ever. Sizwe gets a phone call that his father has died just as he is about to ask Nozuko to marry him. He drives back home with Nozuko to burry his father. After the funeral he asks Nozuko who is at her brother's farm to marry him. Ngangolwandle has named Sizwe his heir ahead of his older brother Mandla. Their father died before being declared the first king of the Bhaca's, in over hundred years after they were stripped off this honor by the colonial government in the 1800's. The decision to nominate Sizwe as his heir uncovers a trail of deceit started by Ngangolwandle himself. He broke the centuries old rule of the Bhaca's that says a chief or king's first wife must be of royal blood with his nation paying the lobola for her. The heir to the throne must come from this woman. On the day of his marriage to his first wife he also brought his childhood sweet heart and married both women, according to him making both women his first wives. He went a step further by making sure his childhood sweet heart gave birth to a boy child before he could make the royal wife (Sizwe's mother) fall pregnant. So Ngangolwandle groomed Mandla the son of his favorite wife as his heir. When he got sick he let Mandla take care of the daily running of the royal house. But when he fell into a coma Mandla sold tribal land next to Mount Frere the fastest growing town in the former Transkei. He made over three million from that land which all went to his pocket. When Ngangolwandle wakes up from the coma he learns of his son's deeds. Before his death he tells his most trusted headman that he must hand over his spear to Sizwe the rightful heir to the throne and not Mandla who is a product of his dishonesty. If Mandla is not the chief and future king he stands to lose ten million in a land deal he is working on with a Durban property development company. This is valuable tribal land next to the town of Mount Frere where the developers want to build a new township. Mandla is not prepared to lose this deal and he will stop at nothing. If Sizwe accepts to be the chief and future king he will have to go toe to toe with the devil himself. More tragic to Sizwe is the fact that if he accepts the throne he will have first to leave the only life he has known in the city. Secondly and most important he will have to break up with his new fiancé "Nozuko" the only woman he has ever truly loved because she is not of royal blood. If he doesn’t want to break up with her he will have to marry her as a second wife. Something Nozuko says she will never do in this life or the next. Sizwe is torn between his nation and the love of his life. He chooses his nation and Nozuko decides not to tell him that she is pregnant. Sizwe when he accepts to be the chief and future king of the Bhaca's is unaware that iNgcubhe (Human sacrifice) is still practiced. This is a ritual done before people can eat the first fruits of harvest. Men are sent to find a man, cut off his head and bring it so that it can be used in the ritual. When the head is brought to the ritual it is that of Nozuko's brother Luvuyo someone Sizwe knows and likes very much. Will he partake in the ritual or will he end a centuries old tradition? The discovery of Luvuyo's headless body makes him extremely awkward in the presence of a grieving Nozuko. Sizwe is tormented even further when after the burial of Luvuyo's headless body Nozuko says she will marry him. As his second wife behind Nolwazi a Mpondo beautiful princess who Sizwe will marry as his first wife. When police raid Sizwe's royal house and find more than fifteen human skulls including Luvuyo's skull buried in the cattle kraal, he must race against time to find out who leaked the information to the police. Is it his brother who will stop at nothing to destroy him or he has more than one enemy? He is about to find the shock of his life. This also seals the fate of his relationship with Nozuko who is distraught to learn that Sizwe knew his brother’s end.
