Jules, 9, spends the first days of summer in Paris with his sick mother, Marie. Anne, 45, lives a lonely and painless existence. Jules is going to upset her daily life after she replaces Marie’s home nurse. The rapid progression of her illness obliges Marie to entrust Jules to Anne until his father, who lives abroad, can come to fetch him. But Jules is different. Curious, insistent, almost obsessive, he says everything that he thinks of and never gives up until he has an answer to his questions. He shares with Anne his off-key and disrespectful vision of the world and of the patients that he now meets with her during her rounds caring for people each day in the neighbourhood. Little by little, the odd couple gets to know each other and turns into an endearing tandem. An unexpected and unique bond is forged between the solitary woman who no longer wanted to suffer and the autistic little boy. Over the summer break, thanks to one another and each in their own way, they are going to come to terms with loss and learn to live.
