The film – based on the Femina-prized novel of Magda Szabó, titled The Door – is telling the story of the relation between two charismatic women – Emerenc, the housekeeper and Magda, the writer. Personal secrets and misgivings, jealousy, through the emotional storms of their taking on each other and the willing of help leads the way of the heroine’s connection from the doubtfulness to the love. The story runs about the question, do we have right to interfere in the life of the other and what tragic consequences it can cause.
